Walk in my shoes for a moment through the eyes of my child...

“Walk in My Shoes for a Moment” story from the eyes of your child: Hello! My mommy quit her job in 2018, when I was born with Down syndrome and very sick. I spent four months in the hospital and came home after heart repair still requiring a lot medically, including a g-tube. Sadly, our father did not bond with me and ultimately left in 2020 leaving mommy as a single parent to two young kids and no income. We survive on credit cards, my SSI, and child support. My brother has really struggled with depression and anxiety since daddy left. We recently relocated from NC to AZ. Mommy is with us kids 100% of the time and feels blessed to be so but also like she has lost her own identity and self. Being the sole parent can be so draining. She needs to recharge. Pretty desperately! She does not take time with us kids for granted - we are her whole world - but she also feels like she is drowning in it sometimes. There is no rest or down time. She cannot even sleep peacefully. So, any ideas on how to give mommy a breather, but also care for her babies would be appreciated!

Hi! My name is Nikki and I’d like to nominate my mom, Cheryl. Through all her ups and downs, my mom has always been there for her kids, including my brother who has Down syndrome. She’s been a single mom my whole life,  as she took on both jobs as mom and dad, through hard times and loss. My mom is the best example of selflessness.  She was and is always by our side! I nominate my mom to be pampered!

Upon retiring after 35 years of working with “unique” individuals, Diane's passion for special families has not diminished. Her books on Amazon “Look IN Me-A life shaped by the most overlooked” and “The UP-side of Down-Unlocking hidden gifts” will enlighten and enlarge your understanding of people often ignored in society, with a touch of humor in many of these true life stories. The 2020 Pandemic opened a greater desire for Diane to help parents caring for children with disabilities of all ages, afford time to focus on themselves. Pamper Our Parents  is an essential need in these unusual times.
